World, Civics, 12th Focus

World: We continued with the Himalaya film today. There's about 40 minutes remaining.... I think.  For tomorrow, be sure you have completed questions 1-7. As you reflect on the film be sure to consider your understanding of agriculture, civilization and trade.  What you are seeing is a network of exchange along the silk road.  What do the people and their Yak''s encounter?  What is the role of family and religion in this culture?  Do you see evidence of social class?  How so?  Is this a surplus society or a subsistence society?   Please set aside time to review the material to day in World History.

Civics:  Today was another prep day for our fishbowl debate slated to take place on Thursday.  By now you should have completed the vocabulary and learned about health care providers and the coverage available.  You should have a completed briefing statement and begin working on your argument map.  By the end of class tomorrow, your argument map should be completed and all that is left for you to do is to apply finishing touches in preparation for the Thursday's fishbowl Frenzy debate on Affordable Health Care.

What have your been learning about the government shut down and the impact on everyday Americans?

What sort of political game playing seems to be occurring within the congress?  What is the role of the President as politics in continues to unravel?  Watch the news!  Be informed!  You have a duty to be in the know!

12th Focus:  Today we finished the ACT practice baseline testing. We now will begin to process the results.  In about a weeks time, we will have feedback for you and begin to focus on converting your weaknesses into strengths.
