World, Civics, 12th Focus


World History:
We concluded our in school preparations for tomorrow's world religions summit. If you did not complete your argument map and briefing statement today, you need to do so at home.  The more prepared you are the greater enjoyment you will have during the summit  Remember, you will need to INFER in order to set forth a perspective based upon your assigned religion.

After the summit, you will turn in your briefing statement and argument map for credit. Please be sure your documents represent your BEST effort.

Civics:

Quiz II tomorrow:  Please bring a #2 pencil for the objective portion. There will be a short answer portion as well.  The quiz is worth 50 points.  You're going to do great.  Be sure to bring your artifacts for the quiz. (Cornell Notes, and Read to Learn)

Ch 3: Roots of American Democracy; Cornell Notes and a focus on the Weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. Be sure you understand how we as a country moved from Declaring Independence to making a constitution. Know the steps along the way and have an understanding of conflict and rebellion that ensued. Be sure to reflect on the historical marker events, and the Enlightenment Thinkers.

Focus on Vocabulary

Differences between Federalist & Anti-Federalists
The ratification process, what it took to get the constitution ratified.
Significance of the Bill of Rights & James Madison
Significance of the Federalist papers (there were 82 of them)

Ch. 4: Constitution
Understand the purpose and the process of the constitutional convention. Who attended?
Focus on Vocabulary
Our goal is to understand Articles I - III and the structure and function of the government. Be sure to fully understand the concept of federalism, limited government, separation of powers and checks and balances. 

Bill of Rights, the protections of individual rights.  Be able to set forth content related to your understanding of the first ten amendments of the Bill of Rights.

12th Focus:
Career Presentation in assigned classrooms first 55 minutes, followed by an ACT debriefing
in J-294.
