Civics: we debriefed Electoral Dysfunction and I collected your pov related to the popular vote initiative.
We began gun rights and gun control today using the 2nd Amendment. Once the intro activity was completed, you were given a case to read and annotate. (DIST of COLUMBIA v. Heller) When reading use the following for analysis: Find the facts (F), what the case is about. Label the (I) Issue (the question before the court), Identify the reasoning of the court. How is the court applying rule of law to the facts? This is called Application (A). Locate and identify the rule of law, (R), and note the conclusion, (C), the outcome of the case.
We will clarify the analysis piece tomorrow. Be sure to do a good job reading the case. While reading, consider the clauses of the 2nd amendment, Prefatory and Operative. Be sure to begin organizing and reviewing for the final exam.
