World: Our focus today was Spread of Islam using the cultures in motion reading (it has maps). We spent a lot of time pulling out key concepts related to spread with the ultimate focus being on how and why Islam spread to a particular region. In a class activity, you were asked to use PERSI, to explain spread, then you reported out to the class. Key word today = Syncretism. We've seen this before and YES, you remembered! For this evening you are going to rehash what we did in class but this time you are going to do the thinking and writing. Use the handout provided to complete the analysis. We concentrated today on: Ways Islam spread, (Conquest, Trade, Missionaries, Appeal), contributing regional factors that allowed spread, the impact of trade and conquest that occurred with the death of Muhammad. Civics: In class we continued with Heller. You learned how to analyze a case using the (F)IRAC analysis method and we began classifying persuasive arguments set forth in the case. For tonight, READ the summary of the case. We will continue in class tomorrow with two activities.
