World-Civics-13th Seminar

World: In class we debriefed 8 Rupees, and had a Mandela discussion.  We also concentrated on the issues related to internal and external causes for fall of empire.  We read together the LORAX and contemplated a quote that "civilizations die by suicide, not murder," which we linked to Jared Diamond and his resent conclusions in a book he wrote called collapse. We will continue with that topic on Monday and prepare for Tuesday's test on fall of empire thru caste.  See website for handout on Collapse.
The QUIZ is TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10. We will do an information assessment in class on Monday, but in the meantime, get organized and begin your studying. Your focus is on fall of empire in the context of internal and external factors. Focus on each empire independently Review text: 6.3.6.3, 7.1, 7.3, 3.1, 3.2.
