World: We finished Monsoon Wedding today. There was a short time to have a discussion but we are not finished because students need to fully complete the film questions. Over the weekend, think about comparing western culture to Hindi culture in the context of weddings. What parallels can you make between the two cultures. Be sure to consider class/caste. On Monday, we will go over the most recent quiz and you will do a short in class writing prompt related to the film.
Be sure to check power school for your quiz III grade.
Civics: In class we prepped for Monday's fishbowl on the Electoral College. You may need to do more preparations at home this weekend... but it should not take too much time. You know how I feel about homework. :(
For those absent, be sure to reconfigure your argument map. In the position box, include one position for support, and one for reform. In the boxes below, one should be claim 1 and the other claim 2. use those boxes to set forth your claims in support of the thesis you set forth in the position box. On the lines beneath the boxes, your are to set forth the evidence/facts that you can use to support the claim that supports the thesis.
You will argue both sides of the issues, so be sure to come to class prepared.

On Thursday, 12-19, you will take a test related to the material covered to date beginning with the Constitutional Convention, political parties/spectrum, citizenship/voting/elections, and the electoral college. The test will be in the usual format.
