Economics: Today we debriefed the the Heller case (2008) www.streetlaw.org/document/207  We identified the trend (first time in 70 years court decided a 2nd Amendment case), and the precedent.  I showed a clip of the Michael Moore film, Bowling for Columbine. (See website for  handout). We will continue with more clips tomorrow.

In the meanwhile, for Wednesday's quiz: Focus on Voting Rights (19th) Amendment) and Gun Control/Gun Rights and the 2nd Amendment. For Voting Rights zoom in on the following: Vocabulary - rational ignorance, choice, cost, benefit, substitutes; The voting rights process, the 19th Amendment and the year 1920. Iron Jawed Angels and the historical context of the voting rights Amendment for Women. The difference between NWSA (National Women's Suffrage Association) and NWA (National Women's Association). With respect go the 2nd Amendment and Gun Rights/Control - be sure you can explain the meaning and significance of gun rights, gun control & disarmament. Be able to compare and contrast. You should be able to set forth arguments related to gun control and gun rights while identifying where the Obama administration "stands" on the issue. Be sure to refer to the Proposed congressional Actions related to control. I handed it out today and it will be on the website. Finally, think about and be able to relate recent gun issues to the rampant loss of life that has ensured as a result of gun violence.
