Economics: Today we held the fishbowl debate on Gun Rights v. Gun Control. A very heated and passionate debate. We will debrief tomorrow, but I would like you to read the article provided today from the New York Times. You have two questions to respond to. 1) From what you can tell, have opinions changed in New Town since the school shootings? Explain. 2) What have you learned about the challenges of changing gun laws across America? Does Newtown SEEM like a typical town? Here is the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/17/nyregion/in-newtown-conn-a-stiff-resistance-to-gun-restrictions.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
We will continue with the issues tomorrow when we debrief and then experience the Heller, 2008 case.
Reminder: Quiz Wednesday, 2/20 (Voting Rights, Gun Rts/Control)
Focus: 2nd blog post is due today. I will begin reading them on Monday morning. Next week's post will be in the form of a Glogster, and the topic will be how you plan to spend your mid-winter break. Have fun and explore glogster.
World: Today we debriefed the material related to the printing press and began taking a closer look at Martin Luther. I returned the material I collected on women related to the scavenger hunt and the quotes. Remember, when you respond to a prompt, Whether or not women experienced a Renaissance," you need be specific in how you support your claim. Take a stand, provide details and argue in a succinct manner. You will see a similar prompt on Next week's quiz. What is the significance of the Printing Press?
