Civics-Focus-13th Seminar-World

Civics:  Today we finished up debriefing the issues and viewed a short segment from the GOP keynote.  You were able to add to your issue chart as a result of the speech. At this time, the waters should be less murky related to the GOP platform issues.  Tomorrow we will explore the Democratic stance on the issues.  All this in preparation for the 1st presidential debate that will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 9-10:30.  The Platform = Domestic policy.

Due tomorrow is ONE CURRENT POLITICAL MESSAGE related to the presidential election.

Focus:  Today we learned about an update related to Sin Pais http://www.pbs.org/pov/sinpais/.  You are to research current US immigration policy and integrate your understanding in a blog post that represents your understanding of the short documentary while weaving your viewpoint throughout.  Be thoughtful and thorough.  Consider the emotions you felt while viewing the film.  How significant is the issue of immigration?  If you were standing in those shoes, would your reaction have been the same, different?  Identify your views related to the US immigration policy.

13th Seminar:  Today we discussed the week's events, the sign ups for on site admits from UM-Dearborn and LTU.  We also began discussions/presentation on mentoring.  Your next mentoring is on Friday to be held in your assigned focus classroom beginning at 11:00-11:30.  Mentoring will be followed by TOWN HALL in the Smith.

Internship assignments will be given on Wednesday in class. Meet in F-204 on time.
