World, Economics, 12th Focus

World: In class we debriefed Gun Powder Empires using the focus questions. Focus Questions for Collaboration on Gun Powder Empires you wrote them on the back and we focused on the big ideas of the gun powder empires.  Big Ideas Gunpowder.

There is a test tomorrow which covers the following:
Explorations: Discovery v Exploration, Explorer v. Conquistador
-The Role of Columbus; hero myth, Zinn and Lowen readings.
-Goal of Explorations =  GGG
-Consequences of Explorations; Conquest (Guns, Germs, Steel)
: Colombian Exchange (positives and negatives)
-Food, Animals, goods, people, disease.
-African Slavers, Trans Atlantic Slavery, Modern Slavery

You can bring Cornell Notes 20.1, 20.3, 20.4 & the Gun Powder Empires Chart for use on the test.



 



Be sure to have a #2 pencil for the objective portion of the test.  Be prepared for about 33 objective questions, and than a short answer section...These are the big ideas.

Economics: Regarding inflation we went through the two analysis problems from the text.  In addition, I played you a segment from NPR related to low inflation rates and their significance if any. Finally, we began covering Monetary Policy. This material pairs nicely with the banking module, so if you have not completed it yet, please do so.  You received materials to complete for chapter 16.  The graphics and questions are due on Wednesday, May 21.  Tomorrow we will continue with Monetary Policy then allow for work time on your newly assigned budget project.  Continue to map out your strategy for living.

12th Focus: Today you completed PSA's related to a critical issue in Oakland County and/or our school community.  You used IPads to formulate the PSA and emailed them to the 12th Focus Google account and to yourself.  In addition, you completed a required survey for the Early College folks. Those absent, need to take care of the survey task Asap.
