Economics: Economic systems presentation was today. Nice job with the visual overview. Be sure you understand the basic underlying concepts of the systems covered. This activity was a supplement to the chapter II material. There are two parts for you to complete. First choose what you feel is the ideal economic system, and they write two journal entries in the areas provided within the economic systems packet. We will use this material to start class on Monday after break. Until then, have a wonderfully restful and fun break!

World: I will grade your short essay on Menzies over break. Grades will be posted by April 8, but your papers will be returned to you on the Monday of our return. Today we took a global view of explorations through primary source analysis. After break we will finish up exploration and take a test on the material covered from Science - Explorations. Not to worry, I will give you an informative assessment to help you study. There is no homework over break, but if you have time, do some reviewing of the material to identify struggle points... We will continue with the debriefing of the sources and explorations on Monday after break. Have a wonderfully restful & fun break.

Economics-Focus-World
Economics: Today we finished up Capitalism a Love Story and had a brief discussion. There's is a lot more debriefing we can and will do after you finish up the activity I have planned for you for tomorrow on economic systems. We also need to go over your tests. Right now you should be thinking about the relationship between capitalism and democracy. Reminder, I will be out tomorrow at a county meeting. Mrs. Iden will be here to conduct the activity which I explained in class today. See you on Thursday.

World: Today we debriefed 1421. Remember, is the MENZIE Theory plausible? Make a claim, site evidence and use reasoning to support your claim while utilizing your evidence. We did a reading in class related to a more global view of explorations but we are not yet done with explorations. I would like to wait to give the WORLD test until after break when we fully complete explorations. The test will cover the Scientific Revolution - Explorations. To bridge the time gap, I will provide an informative assessment tool as a review, so please don't stress. Reminder, I will be out tomorrow at a county meeting. Economics-Mentoring-World
Economics: We continued with Capitalism a Love Story and will finish up on Monday. Over the weekend, think about the allegations set forth in the film related to Capitalism. (Yes, this is the dark side of capitalism) Be sure to complete the reading and note taking assignment for chapter 2, it's due on Monday.

Economics: Today you completed the test on the intro to economics through PPF. I accidental left off the circular flow, so we will cover that next time. When you read the material in Chapter 2, you will revisit circular flow. After the test, you picked up informational documents on economic systems and your next assignment, which is due on Monday. You are to read chapter 2 and complete notes in any form you wish. Graphic organizer, outline, Cornell... whatever you wish. This material is due on MONDAY.
Tomorrow you will be in Mrs. Weiland's room because I will not be here. Your focus is on Capitalism. By viewing a Michael Moore Film, Capitalism A Love Story, you will be introduced to capitalism in a unique way. We will continue with the material on Friday. World: Today we finished the preview to oceanic ventures and are now ready to learn more about Zheng He and Gavin Menzies theory. For this evening, read & annotate the handout on the Eunuchs and treasure voyages. Complete the analysis questions following the reading. This will be credited tomorrow.

Economics: The PPF factory was today... Well done. You produced two items then graphed your outcomes. Finally, we discussed the opportunity costs as a result of your decision making. At the end of class you received circular flow handouts. Look at them and review the material in the text, chapter 3, sec. 2 on Circular Flow, then do the questions related to circular flow.

Economics-World
Economics: Today in Econ we had hoped to do the PPF activity but we were stuck practicing the production of the product. So, now that we all know who to make the products, we will do the activity on Monday. OVER THE WEEKEND, STUDY THE MATERIAL IN CHAPTER 1. MANY OF YOU NEED TO COMPLETE SECTION 4 FROM CHAPTER 1 BECAUSE IS WAS NOT COMPLETED TODAY. Also, review chapter 2 section 3 on circular flow. We will begin that concept on Monday as well.
World: Today you participated in a sleuthing activity where by you had to find information using documents related to the age of exploration. THINK: How does the age of exploration relate to the Renaissance? Over the weekend, you should spend time reviewing the Enlightenment material that has been covered and also review today's lesson.
Due Tuesday are Cornell notes from 19.1 & part of 19.2.
You can expect a test the week of March 25, probably on Thursday, March 28. The test will cover the Enlightenment-Explorations but anything covered on the Renaissance/Reformation quiz is fair game.

Economics-Focus-World
Economics: Today we went deeper into PPF. Great job! We finished up some analysis problems, and I showed a quick PPT, (you have the handout with the info. I will post it too), related to PPF. For tonight, please read & Study the Circular Flow information in chapter 2, sec 3. Due tomorrow also are the Cornell Notes Chapter 1, section 4. Tomorrow in class we will have the paper products factory. We will need to use our time well due to the early release. Remember, class begins at 9:50.
Focus: Today was the last day for this particular strand. Beginning Monday, you go to Mrs. Rosenthaul for the next 6 week strand. Thanks for being part of critical issues. I hope you will continue to blog.

Economics: Today are focus was on PPF. We debriefed the scenarios you contemplated about PPF. At this point you should have a solid understanding of what the PPF is and how opportunity relates to it. In class I showed two 4 minute YOUTUBE videos on PPF. The links are posted on the website. Also posted is the activity we did in class that made the learning visible. Students worked with a partner for question 1. For homework, complete question 2 and the PPF using the data on the chart located on side II of today's handout. Be sure to review the material in the text chapter 1, sections 1,2,3.

Although there was discussion today, we spent time viewing one 23 minute segment from Bridging World History on the Enlightenment. The Big Questions: HOW DO IDEAS CHANGE THE WORLD? HOW DO THEY INSPIRE PEOPLE TO ACTION? HOW ARE IDEAS CHANGED WHEN THEY ARE TRANSPORTED FROM ONE CULTURE TO ANOTHER?

Economics: Today in economics we covered costs/benefits and trade-offs via the three little pigs. We also implemented the ideals of capital resources via a product of your choice. For Friday, REVIEW CHAPTER 1, section 1 & 2. BE SURE TO GO OVER ALL OF THE CONCEPTS. Due Monday, reading chapter 1 sec. 1 + Cornell Notes. You turned in the Assessing opportunity cost homework today. When you review, be sure to review the terms as well.

Economics, Focus, Seminar, World
Economics: Today in Economics we applied what we learned about the meaning of economics. We finished up couch potatoes (where was about nature of the concepts in real world context) and I clarified questions related to the graphic organizer from chapter 1 section 1 and 2. I don't see you until Wednesday due to the MME, but we will be sure to go over the Cornell notes at that time. For Wednesday: 1. review chapter 1,section 1, in particular the meaning of all of the concepts and how they fit into the graphic organizer. 2. Review couch potato and finish G-N questions, 3. Complete the activity ASSESSING Opportunity costs. I will collect this on Wednesday. Key ideas and concepts: Choice, costs, benefits, opportunity cost, scarcity, limited and unlimited resources, incentives, consequences... These are all the meanings behind the definition of ECONOMICS. (If you were absent today, go to the website obtain the assessing opportunity cost handout.

Economics: We further worked with the definition of ECONOMICS today,then read together a reading and pov related to economics which reflected fairness and social justice. We began a "couch potato" activity which we will finish in class related to the 6 principles of economics. Do you know the 6 principles? Today's ideas reflected: economic reasoning, choice, costs, benefits, opportunity costs, trade offs. Due MONDAY are the Cornell Notes for chapter 1, sections 1 & 2.
