Economics-Focus-World

Economics: Please do the preparation you need to do for class.  Read and create a graphic organizer for 6.1.  Practice the charts 6.1-6.9.  There will be a test on Demand, Supply, Elasticity and Equilibrium on Thursday.  In class tomorrow, we will continue with equilibrium.  PREPARATION IS ESSENTIAL!

Focus: CPR TRAINING TOMORROW B-102.  Final blog post is due on Thursday.

World: Cornell notes 20.3 is due tomorrow.  Today we zoomed in on the African Slave trade while using a segment from the Wonders Of The African World - Slave Kingdoms.  There was a guide that went along with the segment.  Those absent, will need to make up what was missed today.  In class tomorrow, we will debrief, then move into the issues related to Modern Slavery.

Economics-Focus-Seminar-World

Economics: We pulled the supply, demand, and elasticity together today.  There were tons of practice scenarios today for application so I believe you have a good handle on the topic.  Due tomorrow is reading 6.1.  You are to READ 6.1 and DO a graphic organizer with the main concepts on Equilibrium. Seminar: More capstones today.  Nice job!  Capstones continue on Wednesday, B-102

World: We began slavery today.  More specifically a comparison of the African Slavery to Trans Atlantic Slavery.  There were guided notes and a film clip from Amistad regarding the middle passage.  Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLXV559GCOU.  Be sure to look at the power point that is posted on weebly related to slavery.

Economics-Seminar-World

Economics: We finished up elasticity today... did not debrief yesterday's outgoing handout because no one did it.  Please complete that so that we can debrief and review.  You use a paper airplane activity today to finalize the concept elasticity.... please review your material to date, there will be a test after we cover equilibrium which we start on Monday.  I provided a Graphic Organizer to compare supply and demand for your use.  It's not an assignment, but a study aid.

Seminar:  Great capstones today.  They continue on Monday.  Please arrive to B-102 by 12:45 so we can begin early.

World: We finished and debriefed the Colombian Exchange and also finished up GGS and debriefed.  On Monday, we will begin Slavery...a consequence of the Colombian Exchange.  Use the weekend to get caught up and to begin reviewing.  A quiz will be on the horizon after slavery.  Week after next.

Economics-Focus-Seminar-World

Economics: We recapped Supply using the "Did you get it" handout.  By now, you should have a great handle on the law of supply, supply, change in quantity of supply and change in supply.  You should be familiar with the determinants of supply...we will do more with this on Wednesday. 

For tomorrow, go back to 4.3 and read the elasticity of demand. Create a graphic organizer (web if you wish) for the material related to the elasticity of demand. Also, do the items I listed on the Elasticity handout (posted). All due tomorrow.  Be sure to review and to get your work done.... we are moving.

Focus:  Your blog post(4) should be complete and you should be commenting on other blogs.  Tomorrow is extended office hours.  Strand, meet in B Mezz at 11:55.

Seminar: Capstones continue on Wednesday. Please come to class by 12:45 so that we can begin early.  We have 3 capstones on Wednesday.
World: Today we debriefed LIES and debated the THINK questions from two different perspectives.  We are moving on to conquest tomorrow. Review your material to date. Think about the blending related to Syncretism and the ideas associated with Ethnocentrism.

Economics-World

Economics: We finished up the jigsaw for Supply...well done.  For the debriefing you completed a "Did you Get  It" exit slip.  We will revisit that on Monday. For the weekend, you should review the material on Demand 4.1-4.2, and Supply 5.1-5.2.  Read 5.3 on the DETERMINANTS OF SUPPLY, and Create a "T chart as follows. One column addresses: Factors that change supply, and the other column addresses Reasons why supply changes.  We will cover the Determinants of supply on Monday. 

World:  Today loads of absence due to Gleaners..... the 8 that were in class, worked on the Zinn questions.  That's due on Monday.  Be prepared for a point counterpoint debate using Zinn on Monday.

Economics-Focus-World

Economics: The jigsaw that we began in class will be completed tomorrow.  So far, very nice job.  It was fun and rewarding to see engaged teaching and learning.  For this evening, please read ch. 5.1 & 5.2.  More on Supply tomorrow.

Focus: Your blog post (4) should be completed by Friday.  I will read the posts on Monday.  Great job!  I'm impressed at the extent of your interest in critical issues.  Well done!

World: Today we continued with the Hero Myth and Columbus.  When you arrived in class, you completed an ENTRY SLIP... whereby you had to make a claim related Columbus, the explorer or conqueror.  On the handout, you made a claim, made a list of evidence to support that claim, and then set forth a well reasoned analysis of your claim supported with your stated evidence. 

To gain further context, we read & interpreted a poem Columbus Day, by Jimmy Durham (Cherokee Poet).  From this poem, you gain a insight from the perspective of the conquered.

Finally, we began in class a chapter from, Lies my Teacher Told Me, by James Lowen, about Columbus.  There are questions that go along with the reading and the questions will be due on Monday for Credit.

Now is a good time to go back through your Cornell Notes on Conquest, p. 553-559, and add to them any additional information that you have learned. You will be able to use the notes on an upcoming quiz.  Tomorrow, we will begin a second look at conquest from the POV of Jared Diamond's, Guns, Germs, & Steel.

Economics: Our focus on Supply will be continued tomorrow in a jigsaw.  I will have Ipads for you to integrate video clips for your teaching.  We will begin the jigsaw at the start of class.

Focus: Blog post 4 is due by the end of the week.  You will have lab time tomorrow.

Seminar: Capstones continue.

World: Today we debriefed question's 1 & 2 and then dove into the Zinn Excerpt.  Be sure you go back through the excerpt to complete analysis questions 3-6.  We will do 7 in class tomorrow.

Economics-Focus-World

Economics:  Nice job applying the determinants of Demand today and with the advertisements.  I believe you have a solid understanding of the demand concepts.  For tomorrow, you will read your assigned topic related to Supply in Chapter 5 of the text.  Come to class with ideas of how you can prepare a lesson to present on the topic.  You will have class time to prepare the your lesson but no real time to do the reading, so please do the reading and pre-planning this evening.  We will go over a few remaining terms for Demand tomorrow and the application charts and graphs that you practiced.

Focus: Good discussion today related to your Glogs and new issues to write about on your Blog.  Next blog post is due by Friday.

World: We debriefed the cartoon and began to dive into the hero myth associated with Columbus.  For this evening, refer to your myty v. reality boxes on the Columbus handout and read/annotate the beginnings reading.  You are only to complete the task in 1 and 2 for this evening.  We will continue with the content tomorrow.

Economics-Focus-Seminar-World

Economics: You did a great job today applying the determinants of demand.  For tonight, review your materials from 4.1 & 4.2 and do the advertisement assignment I provided.  Be sure to follow the directions and to think about the change in quantity demanded and change in demand.  We will begin Supply tomorrow.

Focus: Great job with Glogster presentations.  We will continue with individual blogs tomorrow.

Seminar: Capstones continue on Wednesday. Raise the bar and do your best work!

World: Today you were introduced to the American Hero Myth related to Columbus.  Please complete the debriefing questions related to the short cartoon we viewed today.  Tomorrow in class we will have a guest from Andover.  We will further explore the myth through debriefing and move on to literary analysis.

TOMORROW (FRIDAY) IS AN EARLY RELEASE

Economics: Today you received credit for 4.1 Cornell Notes.  We also completely debriefed the material related to demand and any practice questions you were asked to do.  Tomorrow you will learn about the Determinants of Demand, something we began in class today.  Review the determinant document, read sec. 4.2 in your text.  Due Monday, Cornell 4.2.  All material have been posted on the website. 

Mrs. Iden will be in again tomorrow.  I have part II of the meeting I attended yesterday.

Focus: Today, Glog posts were due.  All links should be added to blog or you should have embedded the glog in your blog.  To do that you click on Embed on glogster when saving.  On the blog, select HTML.  On that page, type on one line <html>, then enter.  On the next line, insert the copied link, hit enter, on the next line type <html/>

Your glog will now be embedded into your blog.  Be prepared to share your creation on Monday.

World: Today you completed the test on Scientific Revolution - Explorations.  If you were absent today, plan to take the test on Monday.  I'm out tomorrow for the remaining half of the meeting I attended yesterday.  Due Monday, Cornell note from Conquest of the Americas, ppgs 555-559 (text)

Economics: Today we finished up Economic Systems and began Demand.  BRING YOUR CORNELL NOTE DOCUMENT TO CLASS tomorrow.  You will have time to complete the reading and notes.  Mrs. Iden will be here tomorrow... I'm out for a county meeting.  Be sure to review the PPT document related to Demand.

Focus: GLOG post is due on Thursday.  Be sure to support your glog with solid research.

World: Today we had a review of the material from the Scientific Revolution - Explorations.  Tomorrow in class you will complete an informative assessment in prep for Thursday's test on the material. Economics-Focus-Seminar-World

Economics: In class today we went over the last quiz, revisited economic systems for a recap and assigned a short term homework for tomorrow (Page 56, skillbuilder on economic systems. It is a comparison contrast of economic systems for review using North Korea.  There are 3 questions that go along with the skill builder, and a Venn Diagram.  Please complete all for credit tomorrow.

Be prepared to hand in the economic systems activity we completed the day before break tomorrow for credit.

Also distributed was a Cornell Note Document for 4.1.  We will begin The Law Of Demand tomorrow.  Chapter 4 is about Demand.

Reminder, I will be out on Wednesday and Friday this week. Mrs. Iden will be in attendance.  Our focus for the week is on The Law of Demand.

Focus: Today all students received Glogster Edu Accounts and began preparing for the 3rd blog post which will be in the form of a GLOGSTER. You can either link the glogster to your blog or you can post the Glogster to your blog.  Fun Stuff!

Seminar: Today's focus was "If at first you don't succeed; try, try again."  We did an activity related to success.  Capstones begin on Friday.  Wednesday will be a capstone work day in school during class.  Please have all materials assessable.

World History: We finished up the Explorations activity that we began prior to break, and recapped our understanding of the explorations.  Reflecting upon the Enlightenment, together we read a short article on the "Vatican Spring".

Finally, we discussed that for this evening, you are to go through your materials beginning with the Scientific Revolution, continuing with the Enlightenment and then to Explorations in order to create a bulleted review of the content covered. 

THERE IS A WORLD HISTORY TEST ON THURSDAY. On Wednesday in class, you will complete and informative assessment to help you prepare.  Until then, we will spend time going back to revisit the key concepts on the material covered.
