Economics-World

Economics: We finished the viewing of, "Is Walmart Good For America" and will continue with the debriefing on Monday.  Remember, your budget project is due on Friday, June 7.  Use the weekend to make great strides on your final project.  Learn something and have fun with it.  The 13.1 material was returned today with comments and grades have been updated on power school.

World: We finished Haiti today and will begin on Monday with Industrialization.  You received a reading today (not electronic) to complete by Tuesday.  You should plan to take the quiz we discussed on the day of the scheduled final exam: Friday, June 14.  The quiz will be 50 questions, and they will be objective. You may bring your notes and materials with you for the quiz.

On Friday, June 7, your FINAL project is due.  There will be sign-up for who wants to present on Friday, beginning next week.

Economics-Focus-World

Economics: Today we began viewing the Walmart DVD.  There is a viewing guide that you should be completing.  There is more to watch tomorrow, then we will debrief.  Collected was the globalization/unemployment (13.1) material. I will return it to you tomorrow.  You should be working on the budget project. It's due next Friday.

Focus: Continue work on the glogster post

World: Today we viewed Egalite for All about Toussait Louveture.  There is a note taking document that you should be completing.  You may use this document on the up coming quiz.  At this point, you should have a solid understanding of Revolution, more specifically, the French & Haitian.  Work on your final project. It's due next Friday.

Economics-Focus-World

Economics:  Continue work on the material in ch. 13.1 and the material on globalization.  The pages are on your handout and on yesterday's post.  Also, continue work on your budget project.  Tomorrow our focus will be on the globalization piece and whether or not Walmart is good for America.

Focus: Continue work on blog post 3 which is a glogster.

World History:  We finished going over the documents for Haiti today.  Try to make a (list) comparison related to the Atlantic Revolutions.. causes and effects.  Tomorrow we will focus on Haiti and Toussaint L'Ouverture, a short film.  On deck is industrialization.
Final project due June 7. You can expect a quiz end of next week or on Tuesday, June 10.

Economics-Focus-World

Economics: We read and discussed Fair Housing practices as it relates in general and for your budget project.  Bottom line, you cannot be discriminated against when trying to obtain housing.  You should be working on your budget project, but we are starting a new topic where we tie globalization into unemployment/employment, in-sourcing & outsourcing.  There was a handout today in class which is due on Thursday.  On the handout are details for text reading which includes p. 269, 282-283 and 13.1.  I will post the handout on the website.

Focus:  Your 3rd post is a Glogster and is due on Monday, June 3.  Be sure to comment on your classmates 2nd post.

World: We learned about the Haitian Revolution through documents.  Tomorrow we will visually experience the Revolution when we view 'Egalite' for All (Tousaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution.  You should be working on your final project.  After the Atlantic Revolutions, we will zoom over to Industrialization... another revolution.

Economics-World

Economics: We finished GDP today. First we debriefed using the work you completed from 12.1 on the handout, then we did an in class GDP participatory activity.  Be sure you understand the effects on CGI and X -M on GDP.  Nice job with this activity!  Finally, I provided additional handouts related to the budget which deal with renting/purchasing a car, and a living space.  In addition, I provided a list of items you will need to purchase for  your living space.  If you were absent, handouts are in the classroom, but I will post them on the website too.  For the weekend, work on your BUDGET project. A crisis will occur late next week.

World: In class we finished up the material related to Jews and Women and are now ready to begin the Haitian Revolution next class.  I provided examples of the Final Project from past students to provide additional context, so be sure you are making significant strides toward completing the work on your final project. Due date for the project is June 7, and you will present your project to the class via lottery beginning that Friday.

Have a fantastic holiday weekend. Relax a bit and spend time with friends and family.  Be safe!

Economics
Today our focus was on GDP.  You completed a simulation at GDP & Pizza
While at home this evening, go through the simulation again to solidify the concepts.  I will take credit for 12.1 tomorrow. Be sure to review the material contained in 12.1 so you can be sure you have a handle on the content.  We will be moving forward tomorrow.   WORK ON YOUR BUDGET PROJECT.  At this time, you should have made significant strides toward the requirements.  Next week is a short week,  and the project is due on June, 7.  I will handout a crisis sometime next week for you to deal with.  Tomorrow in class, we will discuss renting and leasing concepts.


Focus: 2nd post was due today.  Next week we will work on GLOGSTER for post #3.  Think of content you wish to include.

World:  Today we continued with revolution and zeroed in on the D of the Rights of Men, Jews and Women. If you were absent today, you will need to come to the classroom to pick up the documents because the primary sources evaluated are not electronic.  We evaluated documents and held a seminar discussion on the topic using two specific questions. The big question: Why Jews and not Women related to the Dec. of the Rights of Man and Citizen..  We will begin Haiti tomorrow.  BE SURE YOU AR WORKING ON YOUR COKE BOTTLE FINAL PROJECT.  Next week is a short week and the project is due on June, 7.

Economics: Today we learned about GNP... We will continue tomorrow. Please review for understanding 12.1. Also, clean up your note taking document, particularly the graphic organizer.  Work on your budget project.

Focus: Your second post is due on Thursday. You will have time tomorrow to complete the post.  I am in the process of posting comments to your first post.  I have a few more to post at this time.

World: We revisited the D of I today and compared it to the D of Rts of Man (France). For this evening, you are to take your assigned POV and respond to the questions on the document provided.  We will wrap up this component of revolution tomorrow and move on to Haiti.

Economics: we finally finished Freakonomics.  Please complete the exit slip questions related to why  would show this film. GDP, 12.1 will be credited tomorrow.  We will begin GDP at that time.  Be sure to be working on your budget project, it's due on June 7.

Focus: You should be working on your 2nd blog post due on Thursday.  All students should have a glogster account.

World: We continued with Revolution today.  First we went over your recent test, then we worked on learning about the D of I.. so that we can compare the D of Rights of Man and The D of Rights of Women. Be sure to be working on your final project using the Coke Bottle/metaphor. Due June 7.  For tonight, refer to the dramatic moment document you received on Friday. Be sure that you read it. Today you were assigned a point of view (POV). Be sure to respond to the 5 questions for your assigned point of view.  Have you been assigned a: Clergy, Nobles, Urban Third Estate (merchant, professional, shopkeeper, craftsmen, clerical, laborer) or from the Rural Third Estate (peasants).

Economics: Today we continued with Freakonomics.  THINK about the economics concepts that come out of the film. We will finish up on Tuesday.  Between now and then, interview your parents about the history of you name.  Where did it come from... How was it chosen?  Use the weekend to continue work on the budget project.

Focus: On Monday, you will be in the lab to research your next blog topic and to comment on your classmate's blog.  Please post at least three comments.  Those who need a Glogster account... You will be provided with an account on Tuesday.

Seminar:  Congratulations!  See you at honors convocation!


World: We are continuing with Revolution.  Today I collected the Historical Context questions and provided credit for note taking on 23.1 & 2 and 24.1.  We will zoom into the French Revolution. Think about the causes of revolution (at the same time, think about empires and why they fall).

We discussed freedom, liberty and popular sovereignty, and the importance of viewing the revolution through the lens of the colonized.  More on this next week.  Review the material and be sure you can identify the causes of the French Revolution. What are the key words and ideas? Who's important, why?

Economics:  Today we debriefed Globalization, the myth and the "T" chart.  In addition, we began the short film Freakonomics...Be sure to review your note taking so that you are identifying the important concepts.  Use the evening to work on the budget project and to review globalization..read 269.

Seminar: Capstones were completed today. Remember to attend Town Hall on Friday @ 11:00. 13th Seminar Lunch to follow.

World: There was a debriefing of the revolution documents today. What are your "take aways" from the material on the Atlantic Revolutions?  To be continued tomorrow.  For Friday, read ch. 23, sections 1 & 2, and 24 sec. 1.  Compose your own form of note taking on this material. IE;  Graphic Organizer, Cornell, Double Entry Journal, Outline...  Your note can be used on an upcoming test.

Economics-Focus-Seminar-World

Economics: Continue work on your budget project.  You have a work day tomorrow. Mrs. Weiland will be here in place of me and take you to the lab to give you time for your project.  Kalli will be on hand with her past project and to help those in need. \

Due Wednesday: Read page 269 on Globalization.  Read the Globalization Myth reading and prepare a "T" chart listing the advantages and disadvantages of Globalization.  Credit will be given on Friday.

Focus: Blog post 1 is due on Wednesday.  If you are finish posting tomorrow, be sure to read the other blogs in class and to comment.  Access the class blogs via the weebly website.  Mrs. Newman is covering your class.

Seminar:  Great capstones today!  Final capstone presentations are Wednesday.  13th Seminar lunch on Friday.

World: Today we dove into Revolution.  For Wednesday, completed the historical context reading along with the questions.  You will receive credit at that time. The test is graded but I did not return it because two students need to take it.  I will post the the grades on power school later for you to view. We will go over the test in class on Thursday.

Be sure you are spending energy thinking about your final presentation. Be creative, thoughtful and thorough when it concerns the themes.  Believe in you... you do know the material.

Mr. Snyder will be covering the class tomorrow.  You will work on a primary source SOAPS activity related to revolution. Use class time to complete the assignment, it's not meant to be homework.

Economics: Today we worked on phase one of the budget project. At this time you should have figured out your gross and net earnings so you can make decision about housing and transportation.  Continue to work on the project. Remember, this is an at home individual project..your final exam project.  Follow the directions carefully, document all that is needed and begin accumulating evidence.

Seminar: Last week of capstones begin Monday.

World:  The Final Exam project was rolled out and explained today.  Use the weekend to THINK about the direction you wish to take with the project. It's due on June 7.  In class, we began revolution with a reflective brainstorm about where we have come from.  More on this Monday. If you were out today, I will post the project to the website.

Economics: You received the budget project today, and you also drew for your roles.  Begin to gather information. We will have a budget workday tomorrow. Speak to your parents about the project... enlist them to help and be involved in your learning journey.

Focus: The OCC program prevented us from having Lab time.  We will pick up with the blogs on Monday.

Seminar:  Meets 10:45 on Friday in A110.  Capstones continue.

World: Today there was a test on Colombian Exchange, Conquest, Gunpowder.... If you were absent, plan to make up the test on the first day of your return. I will grade the tests and return them to you on Monday.

 Economics: We finished up business organizations today.  Be sure you complete the reading in 8.1-8.3.  Those who complete graphic organizers for that material will receive extra credit. You received your graded tests and we went over them as a class.  Tomorrow we will roll out the Budget project.


Focus: All blog addresses have been shared and uploaded to the website.  Some began research and some even began blogging.  Tomorrow you will be given time to work on your first blog post which is due next week. (Thursday)

Seminar:  Capstones continued today. Please watch your time for the project and please put your phones away during the presentation.  Your actions are very rude and insensitive.


World: Today we discussed why Japan is an example of a NON EMPIRE.  Reflect on the reasons.  We discussed the BIG IDEAS that you could take away from the gunpowder jigsaw. REFLECT!

Review all materials and prepare so that you are successful on tomorrow's assessment.

Economics:  Today we continued with the business organization material.  We created a graphic organizer and are trying to determine which characteristics best explain why the companies highlighted are so successful.  We need to continue with this material tomorrow.  Be sure to review for understanding, business organizations.

Focus: Strand 5 grades are posted.  Strand 6 is beginning to format their blogs.  We will begin research tomorrow.

Economics-Focus-Seminar-World

Economics:  Test make-ups are tomorrow beginning in office hours.  We have been working on Business Organizations.  Today, I collected the memo's you composed related to Sweets, Inc.  For tomorrow, you have been assigned one business plan to read and analysis.  Be sure to respond to the questions so that tomorrow you will be able to collaborate with your partner to finish the assignment and participate in the jigsaw conversation.  In the meantime, you should read 8.1-3 and complete graphic organizers for that material by the end of the week.  I will roll out the Budget Project, some time this week.

Focus:  Welcome to Strand 6.  Base grades will be posted by the end of the week.

Seminar: Capstones continue. Be sure to have your capstone previewed.

World: Today we will be focusing on the gun powder empires.... Be sure to keep up with the reading and annotations along with any text book assignments.  Today in class we will debrief the power shift questions and continue covering gunpowder empires.  For tomorrow, be sure you complete your assigned empire to participate in the cafe' conversations related to same.

World: Began Gun Powder Empires today.  There are two documents uploaded on the website.  For the last 15 minutes of class (following the intro) students worked on a reading and focus questions related to the Gun Powder Empires. The reading (annotated) and questions need to be completed for Monday.  Expect a test on Colombian Exchanges, the various slavery's, and Gun Powder Empires next Thursday or Friday.

Economics:  Students completed the test on Supply, Demand, Elasticity and Equilibrium today. Those absent will need to make up the test next week. Hannah, plan to complete the test on Monday.  Kayla, we need to get you caught up, so we will schedule a time for the test once you are caught up.  Tyreese, speak to me Monday about taking the test. If you have an understanding of all the material, please plan to complete the test on Monday, otherwise, we can reschedule it.

Focus: Today was the final day for the current strand. Thank you to my current strand, what a wonderful group of young people.  Your final blog post is due today.  I will submit grades to Mr. Snyder next week.

Economics: Today we covered Equilibrium.  Be sure to review today's activity along with 6.1 and the charts and graphs. Tomorrow you will be taking a test on Supply, Demand, Elasticity & Equilibrium.  You may being the comparison study sheet, (add whatever you want regarding determinants on the back, as well as elasticity and equilibrium), Cornell notes & graphic organizers you have completed for chapter 4, 5 and 6.1.  You are ready for this test, but be sure to study!  Please have a pencil when you arrive to class.

Focus: Final Blog post is due tomorrow.  You will also complete a short evaluation of the strand. We should have time to share tomorrow as well.

World: We debriefed African Slavery today and began Modern Slavery coverage.  There is an intro ppt posted related to Modern Slavery.  You were given a short reading on modern slavery to read and annotate.  We will pick up with the content tomorrow.  Contemplate your take aways from the material on slavery thus far.... What have you learned?  What would you like to learn?  What are you confused about?
